First Day

By the time you are reading this, my daughter will be in a little red school house.

It's sorta surreal that we're at that stage. But as I tweeted the other day, I'm not like freaking out. Probably because it's only for 2.5 hours. Probably because it's only 3 days a week. Probably because I'm at work eleventy-teen hours a day so I'm kinda used to being away from her.

But it's not really about me. It's about her. How will she handle it?

I don't think she's freaking out either.  Probably because she's been talking about school ever since she knew what a school bus was. Probably because she loves going to Sunday School at church.  Probably because she thoroughly enjoys being in the Playroom at work for two hours a couple days a week.

She's a social butterfly. She loves playing with other kids. She's a good listener and a good helper.  She will be awesome!!

I'm so proud of her and so proud to be her mom.

I thought about sitting across the street and spying on her while she's there... but I decided to head to the gym to workout instead.

I got the idea to do a sign on the first day of school from Inchmark.squarespace.com. And I think someone somewhere mentioned something about having the kid write their name, so that's what I did!!

This post is being linked up to Julie's 52 weeks of pinterest... let's see if I can keep up!!

I almost cried to first day my son went to preschool on the same schedule as your daughter. I knew how good it would be for him but the lump was still gathering in my throat.

This year's preschool class is 5 days a week and I am NOT sad when he's gone. (The only reason for that being that I know he's in a safe, enriching environment!) He's in a "drives you crazy" stage and school is a fantastic break from parents and child!
He gobbles everything up at school -- figuratively speaking of course, and sometimes literally too -- and comes home happy and proud.

That's the way school should be, and I can only hope such a vest for school will continue even through high school.
