Dear Hubby

I've known you for for nearly 11 years now. 7 of those years you've been my husband. Over 4 of those years you've been the Father to our children.

And not once have I given you the birthday you deserve. August seems to creep up on my and I always say I'll do something special, something memorable, something awesome.

And then September 19th comes and I've got nothing.  I use the excuse that you're "hard to buy for" or that you "don't really need anything," but that's just an excuse for not making it a priority.  I know you're not dependent on gifts, but face it... everyone loves gifts.

Some day it'll be the Indianapolis Colts tickets we've always wanted.  Or a trip to Ann Arbor to see the Wolverines play a football game. Or something.

I can promise you this though... that from now on your birthdays will be special. It might be a tangible gift for you to open with Christmas wrapping paper because I couldn't find birthday paper.  Or it might be a date night or a gift card or a big vacation. (Probably not that last one.)

Regardless of what I get you... or don't get you... I will love you forever.  You're my best friend.

Happy thirty-something birthday!!
xoxo

Aww, such a heartfelt post. Happy Birthday to your hubby!

PS. We don't do much for our B-days either. We put it all into the kids and Christmas.

What a lovely tribute to your husband. We tend to not get too overly excited about our birthdays. Although this coming July my husband will turn 50, so I think it will be time for a big celebration.

I have this same problem, but then, it's not like my husband typically makes a big fuss over my birthday. This past one was terrible for him, though. His mom sent him a text. A TEXT! His sister didn't call. We had to go to the emergency room with our daughter. He got barfed on and pooped on, etc. NOT a good day, and it brought up all kinds of feelings about sad past birthdays, to boot!

Awww, so sweet. Happy Birthday to your hubby. It is always hard to buy them gifts. I keep on wanting to take my hubby somewhere for his, but it never works out. I guess it's the thought that counts, no matter how small/large it is, right? :)
