Boys in Motion

My first born, my daughter, has been pretty low-key since the tender young age of 8 weeks. Sleeping well at night, playing quietly by herself.

And now, at the ripe ol' age of 4, she would sit on the couch and watch movies for hours (if you let her). She would color or play Polly Pocket or do anything while sitting sit if you let her.

Yes, she does run around and yes, she's incredibly active, but in comparison to her brother... she's like a lame duck.

I'm not sure if it's just boys or second-born children or a combination of the two, but Monster Man is crazy. He loves to play with his cars on the ramp track, but he's quickly onto something else.  If we put on a movie for the kids, he's up playing with something within 15 minutes.

But I love that he's his own individual spirit. We were at a 4th of July party a few weeks back and he spent time jumping off the steps. Because that's what boys do best, right?

I am not a good photographer.  I don't have a fancy camera and I don't know anything about shutter speed.  Sometimes I just get lucky and I think this motion picture turned out great.

Have you ever tried to capture your child in motion? (Lord knows mine doesn't sit still long enough for a picture.)

Really cute shot of your son jumping! The blur is just right for showing how fast he is!

Cute! My daughter has always been laid back and serene....my son is well a completely different story. I don't think it's a gender issue, it's just a personality issue. I've seen some very hyper active (for lack of a better term) girls as well.

Great motion picture! Kids are so hard to keep still, and sometimes it's fun to capture the motion of being a kid!

Very cute! My last born child is constantly in motion, so I'm trying to figure out how to capture it--I can't get any cute pictures otherwise :)

There's this total type of shift from my first to second, too. And I've pow wow-ed about this phenomenon with other moms of 2, too.

I'm convinced it's a boy thing. lol. And they certainly are tricky to capture. Great job getting the camera out. That's half the battle right there. The pic is a great example of motion! Thanks for participating in our Crazy Days of Summer.

My first, a girl, didn't relax for another minute after the birth of number 2, a boy. He was so daring it worried her sick and she felt compelled to monitor his every activity as apparently she didn't trust us to keep him safe from himself. It was pretty cute. Number 3, another boy, was a cautious soul so she did not have to worry so much about him.
