I felt in love with a career that is ever changing.
Exercise and sports performance.
And while our need for exercise might not change and the true basics of nutrition stay the same, it's an industry that is every developing. New gadgets, new exercises (piloxing, anyone??), new twists on old movements. It's definitely an area that must be kept up on.
I must admit... going out of town for a conference breathes a breath of fresh air into my motivation at work. Missing Hubby and the kids for a few days is a bummer, but getting to know the people I travel with is awesome. And that renewed sense of rest, strength and knowledge to keep working hard seems to come just at the right time.
Can I use Twitter as a way of staying up to date in my field? Absolutely! I follow some fantastic people on Twitter and Facebook that have links and blog posts and videos. And nowadays, it's an easy way to connect with someone that you might not have otherwise connected with!
And finally, reading. Oh wait, did I say reading? I meant, putting the book in my work bag and only reading a few pages a week. Seriously, I suck at reading. I mean, I know how to read, I just don't make the time that I should. But I do like to read training books. I'm reading one now, that isn't necessarily science and anatomy and physiology, but it chronicles one woman's year-long quest to find the best workouts. It's called "The Great Fitness Experiment: One year of Trying Everything" by Charlotte Hilton Anderson. It's funny (hilarious) yet so informative. Especially if you've been wondering about different types of workouts. She gives the ins and outs and pros and cons. GREAT book... even though I haven't finished it yet!
Oh, and I had a goal of reading 10 pages a day... that's it... 10 pages a day... and I can't even stick to that. Someone hold me accountable! (Ok, I'm off to read....)
#1. How do you stay current in your area of expertise?
#2. A talent you don't have, but wish you did.

Reading is harder for me to stay on top of too...except that I usually have to lead the book study :)
I'm just impressed that you read for work! Of course I'm in IT. I only read stuff for work when forced for trainings. :P
You go girl! Great post, and I hope to link up next week!
