When I was pregnant with my first child... my daughter....
*I was dead set on naming her Madison Grace... that didn't happen
*You couldn't tell I was pregnant when you looked at me from the back. I adored my little basketball belly.

*I went to the hospital at 20 weeks pregnant due to a high fever and abdominal pain, spent 8 hours in an ER room, only to be admitted at 10:00 at night. I stayed in that hospital for 4 days to finally be discharged when my fever broke.
* I went to the hospital again to be induced at 40 weeks, 4 days. I finally had my daughter at 7:00pm.
* The amount of love and joy I immediately felt after delivering her was... immeasurable and unspeakable.

*I spent the next 30 minutes being stitched up and feeling freezing cold from a shock-type symptom. I could not stop shaking.
*I fought my body's need for sleep and rest and my heart's want to just stare at my new baby for hours. In the end, the sleep won.
*I recovered quickly and was working out in about 3-4 weeks. Best thing I ever did for my body and my stress.
What do you remember from your first pregnancy?

if i think about my first one too much I get anxious as it was sooo bad, 2 hour surgery after to repair yhe damage down there...plus hemmeroids..and a baby with severer cone head, neck issues which required physio 3 days a week for a year!!! Good thing he is a dream 5 year old so I dismiss the pain he caused!!
Beautiful memories.
I remember doing the same thing -- wanting to stay awake so bad, and yet my body was simply too tired.
Blessings!
I have way way way too many memories from when my boys were born that I would need a week's worth of blog posts to get it all out LOL.
So many good memories and a lot of sad ones too. Not being able to hold my babies after they were born, and not seeing them for 6 hours killed me. It was not the birthing experience I was dreaming and hoping for at all.
But they are/were healthy boys. I try not to think about the scariness of it all anymore.
I remember that first night at the hospital well. Awwww the new love of new life. Some days I miss that little baby, but they sure are fun once they get a personality too. Great flashback.
I was induced at 37 weeks due to a complication I was having. I remember freezing too, afterward. I had 5 heated blankets and I still wasn't warm enough.
The best part of my first was that it made me a mom. I remember looking at my son and realizing I was now a mother! Thanks for sharing the flashback! :D
My first was born at 35 weeks and 2 days so as soon as she arrived they whisked her off to NICU. I slept. I didn't worry about bonding with her, I just slept and recovered. I did get really upset when I had to check out 3 days before her but it all worked out.
Such sweet memories! I actually just posted about my own pregnancy, but it wasn't that nice. lol!

I was pretty much on bedrest for the whole pregnancy. Heartburn, boredom, nausea, hemorrhoids, cramping, swelling, waddling, peeing... Ha! I didn't like being pregnant. :D
The shock and total joy at seeing the positive pregnancy test. I took at least five more to be sure. Feeling like I had the best little secret in the world until I shared the news at only nine weeks. Loving buying maternity clothes. Swimming every day, I have never been more healthy. Long strong finger nails. Feeling my baby kick for the first time when I was at an Italian restaurant. All the worry when I did not feel him move, he was quiet in there. Waking up with cramps a week before my scheduled c-section, and not understanding that this was labor. Making it to the hospital and my water breaking shortly after. Apologizing to the nurses for the mess. Sitting in my hospital bed a few hours later with my baby thinking this was the best day of my whole life.
I was on bedrest for a lot of it, so most of my memories are not good ones. :/
However, I remember distinctly the feeling when my water broke. The snapping sensation followed by a flood. I loved that feeling.
I miss feeling my M squirm around! He was so active and that hasn't changed a bit!
I remember the heartache of going through invasive genetic testing when we were told something might be wrong with our son.
I remember the weight of the world lifting when we got the news that he in fact was A-OK.
I remember watching Maury Povich in the hospital as I waited for the pitocin to kick in.
I remember Matthew peeing on my husband when they took him to be weighed.
I can still picture it in my head when I close my eyes!
Soooo glad I found this blog! Didn't know you were out here. God bless, and can I please send you a copy of my new book to review? It's called Chasing Superwoman: A Working Mom's Adventures In Life And Faith.
Working out after 3-4 weeks? You ARE Supermom! Good for you!
I just remember joy. And fear. And now that I have three under five, I realize that kids are incredibly resilient. Thank God for that.
Happy CR - have a great weekend!

My swollen ankles and feet. You could seriously press into my leg over my shin, and leave an indentation. It was horrible! Other than that, my belly was a basketball too. Everyone said you couldn't tell from behind that I was pregnant.
Memories? What memories? Just kidding - I remember thinking I wanted her to be out of me so that I would know she was okay (I was having some bleeding at the time). Little did I know how much I would worry about her AFTER she was out!
What a precious post! I am due with my second one in 16 weeks and can't wait to meet him. I do remember the first day with Eva and not wanting to look at anything or anyone else. We protect, help create them 24/7 for 9 mos and suddenly others want to hold them...uh, NO! :D

I can't even imagine carrying a child to 40 weeks 4 days. I delivered my first at 38 weeks, and my 2nd at 39. I'm hoping to deliver my 3rd at 37 lr 38, but I'm scheduled to deliver her at 39. HOW ON EARTH, did you make it past 40?
Your basketball belly IS adorable. I've got a basketball, with love handles. Not so cute, haha.
