No, not the song by Semisonic. (But now I have that song stuck in my head.)
Today, we close on our house. You have no idea how excited I (we) am (are). I mean, I'm so giddy I can barely type this out. It's been a long time coming... since September 20th to be exact... but who's counting, right?
We accepted an offer on our old house back in January, but didn't close until May. That closing took for-ev-er. But our current house... we made an offer mid June and here we are... closing less than 6 weeks later. Our realtor, our mortgage lady and yes, even the sellers, were all awesome in getting the process going.
We are going to have an interesting challenge on our hands. We have 2 small kids (that come with lots of clothes and toys), close to a ton (literally) in gym equipment and our own stuff. All to be squeezed into a small house. And what do I mean by small house?
Take a guess... what is a "small house" to you? 2000 square feet? 1500? Maybe 1000?
Try less than 800 square feet of living space. Wow. To say that out loud (and on my blog) sounds so bad. I mean, I'm not one for feeling the need to have the biggest and best... but gosh, that just sounds like we live in a shack!
I'm kind of excited to share with you what our house looks like and how we are going to make this space work for us. An organizational challenge, so to speak. Oh, and possibly even our process of building a garage.
Did you have a chance to check out some of the Working Mommy Wednesday stories yesterday? They were so amazing! And there was a comment from Rachel about how maybe I could be giving some tips for working moms who want to get back into shape! Well, thanks for the kick in the rear, Rachel. I've been thinking about this for awhile and even have something bigger in the works. But for now, I leave you with, what most would say is torture, what some would say is exercise, and what I would say is PLAYTIME WITH MY KIDS! (Stay tuned for more exercise tips, pics, videos and workouts for the busy mama!)
(There was an even better video I was going to use, but the videographer I hired is slacking... just kidding Hubby.)

Congrats - can't wait to see pics!
Good luck today and congratulations!! It's such an exciting thing to close on a new house!!
Congrats!!! Hope everything goes really smoothly!
Blessings-
Amanda
Congratulations! And, yes, that is really small! Is there an unfinished basement for your gym stuff?
Congrats! As a new homeowner myself I know what a relief it is to get through that closing process! Enjoy making your new home yours!
Forget about the small space, I am still in awe that you can do walking lunges with Hannah on your bak. You rock!
Wow, that is small! Good luck! We had a 750 square foot condo for 2 of us and a cat when we lived in Chicago and it was tight. We're spolied now by lots of room!
Wow, That is quite impressive with the weights there.
That is fabulous.
And the lunged with your girl on your back?
Wow.
Looking forward to the twitter party we are holding together...
Congrats! And your video made me tired! LOL. ;)
Congrats on the house! That's awesome. And, Husband and I were just talking about all the awesome new products out there to make smaller spaces works. We were dreaming about being able to afford a downtown/high-rise condo!
I can't believe you did all those lunges with her on your back!! Totally insane...and don't you really wish they went that fast??
ps your link is broken on my Mr. Linky...I figured out how to get to your blog, but you might want to go re-link up!
Congratulations! That's exciting. New houses are perfect for new starts - can't wait to see how you organize everything - I'm organizationally challenged.
Stopped in from Mama Kat's.
Can't wait to see the pics and hear all about the house!!! Glad things are working out!!
Congrats! We are still in house buying hell so I can't wait to have a post just like this one!
Congratulations on the house! I'm excited to hear how it works out, in terms of organization and living space and such! We are trying to buy a low-budget house in the Boston area (hah--huge challenge) and keep shrinking the size we're willing to buy. We're looking at houses that are 1200 square feet, but we could probably consider smaller ones...I'll keep an eye on your posts for tips! :)
