Call me Mrs. Homemaker. Or SuperMom. Or June Cleaver. Or Jamie Oliver.
Yes, I made dinner. A dinner that did not consist of grilled cheese sandwiches and soup (although I do make a mean grilled cheese).
While Hubby was driving back from his parents (he took the kids overnight), I thought it would be a fantastic surprise to have dinner ready when they got home. And while it wasn't totally ready, the house was filled with the smell of bacon as I was greeted with lots of hugs and kisses.
The meal was not all that spectacular. But for me, it was a feat. And while Hubby did compliment me on a job very well done (going back for seconds and thirds), I'm pretty sure it was only because he A) was hungry and B) didn't have to cook.
BARBEQUE BACON CHEESEBURGERS
Cook bacon. (Do I really need to explain how to cook bacon?)
1 lb. lean ground turkey
1 egg
1/2 cup bread crumbs
pinch of salt and pepper
Mix ingredients well and form into burgers.
Cook. On skillet. Or grill. Or electric skillet (that's what I used).
For the final 1-2 minutes, brush burgers with barbeque sauce and cook another minute or so.
Top burger with cheese (if desired) and bacon.
Awesome.
I love recipes that don't really need much measuring or timing or anything. Probably because I'm really not a very good cook.
So, there, all you mommies who cook dinner all the time. I can do it too.
Peace out.
(Another post coming soon with one of the projects I've been working on.....)

Congrats, I am going to have to attmempt to make that for my hubby one night. He loves anything with bacon on it! :)
That sounds fabulous! I know my husband would really enjoy that meal.

I'm proud of you! Working AND getting meals done is a whole new world of stress!! :)
You should see me flipping pancakes and packing 3 lunches in the morning!! Talk about ca-razy!!
Congrats! It's always nice when they eat it too. I try to cook, but it's hard. That is a new goal of mine to cook dinner a few more days out of the week. We will see how that goes. My husband will always eat anything with bacon - so we might have to try these!
I got hungry reading this! Yummy yum yum!
Good for you! And nothing beats a good burger.
I just have 1 more thing to say.
Mmmm...bacon.

Thanks for being a great part of my SITS day and making it truly spectacular. Your time and your words mean the world to me.

Very nice job. My husband doesn't appreciate a lot of what I make because I don't make just food. But when I give in sometimes He really likes it. Good job for making dinner for your family.
Don't you love it when you make it AND they eat it - LOL! Sounds yummy, I will have to try that recipe!
I feel like we are kindred souls. I, too, work full time, am the breadwinner of the family and have a husband who stays home with our children. I go from heartbroken over the situation, to guilt ridden, to too busy and overwhelmed to feel anything but tired.
I look forward to spending some time on your blog!
I have been busting my hinney to cook for a whole week from the Pioneer woman cooks cookbook that I am giving away! ouch ~ my hinney hurts! is that how you spell hinney anyway?
The perfect pot roast was SO easy and the best meal I have made in what feels like decades!! =)
